About This Game Travel Beyond the Reality You've Always Known. Two thousand years ago, the Kingdom of Jastamune was thrust into a war, the only survivor being a magician known as Reverent Sulada. In a last-ditch effort to save the Kingdom, she encases herself in magic and sleeps for two thousand years, eventually being unearthed by the Alpha Omega Company, dedicated to researching the implications of their pollution-filled world. As she is freed from her magical spell, nobody knows what to make of her, and the leader of the company - La'lele - refuses to help at first. A few side quests , easy to play , easy to figure out .. Fun little RPG, Immersive enough to keep me playing, little bit on the short side of things but reasonably priced. Aldorlea games usually puts up some decent RPGMaker games so while this certainly wasn't outstanding, it was certainly worth it for me. I'd give it an overall dcore of 6 out of 10.. First off, I've played this game a few times already, so it's great to finally see this game on steam.Pros:Good Story - I like the characters and the general idea of this title. It's thought provoking and while some improvements could be made in character development, it doesn't take too much away from the over all experienceMusic - Now I know this game doesn't have any original pieces but none-the-less, the tracks were well chosen.RPG Maker - I myself am working on an RPG Maker game, I make this a pro because it's always good to see a decent or good RPG Maker game make it onto steam. Is this the best RPG Maker game? No. But, is it worth the purchase price, sure! You can tell from the mapping and the story that a lot of thought and work went into this title given the engine it was built in.Cons:Character Development - the game is fairly short, and the orignal was even shorter. The developer did a great job extending the story line for this version of the game but it sometimes feels like the charcters could use more depth and weren't... filler. But, again, not the worst by far out there.Mapping - "Wait, didn't you mention mapping in your pros?" Yes, I did. as good as the mapping is in this game, for a commercial product, and I thought hard about this, it could be better. By that I mean, lighting and atmosphere. It lacks in those departments and I know the power of RPG Maker is limited, but there are solutions to this problem. I suggest the developer to consider some broader techniques for his future projects, especially commercial ones. Battle System: I personally don't like the battle system as much as others, and the animations are pretty copy and paste. I would prefer to see a little more effort in this portion of an RPG. It's no where near as bad as MANY rpg maker games that I've played, but since this is a commercial product, custom animations and a more unique battle system would have been a nice touch.Overall, I recommend this game. Having played the orginal and a couple versions of the current copy, it's not a bad game. The asking price is fair for something that can be finished in 5-7 hours. I'd love to see what the dev can make with a newer engine and some custom resourses!. Beyond Reality is a very solid rpg that follows the classic style ---- featuring the same mechanics and the same elements but with a different visual style that works very well and is easy to learn and get into the game immediately.Several choices are offered at the beginning to suit your personal taste including screen size and even the selection of "fantasy" or "modern" names for your characters. So make your choices and get into an interesting, imaginative, and absorbing story.As you begin you are taken back 2000 years in time to a land called Jastamune to resolve the complications of the conflict taking place ---- not much time to ponder the why, just start the quest through differing locations such as caves, mines, forests, and castles ---- all of which have different treasures and secrets to find. You can fight the battles you choose among the many types of enemies or escape (if you're quick). You'll want to explore very carefully, though, to find all the treasures containing weapons, money, potions, etc.Scenery is beautifully done, and the music is varied and excellent throughout the game. So give this one a chance ---- especially at the very reasonable sale price ---- and you'll have a winner. Recommended, for sure.. This game is very much on the fence for me. For RPGMaker titles there are some really good, and some really bad, this falls right on the other side of bearable. It is not horrific, and it did make me smile and intrigued, but overall it felt a little empty.Warning, semi-spoilers aheadFirst off the characters themselves both due to the sheer number of playable characters, and people in the story not enough of them got enough characterization to stand water. But the premise of the story was pretty good. Very Chrono Trigger-ish but in reverse. IE you are from the future something happened in the past, but you are forcibly sent back in time and some of your party members stay behind at the end causing the entire future to change from polluted, to clean.The combat is shallow, repetitive and leveling is a chore. There is an achieve for all characters lv 10 which you will get at the final boss whether they are that lv or not. Which is good since you get a lv 6/7 chara right before said boss. Virtually any tactic early in the game will work late game.The villian feels as if there's no motivation behind him... He feels shallow as well. Sure villians aren't detailed much but most of the time good villians make GREAT stories.Sorry rant over I wish there was a neutral option for this review.
